February 21, 2023This book has definitely given me new perspective on preparing wild game. Steve is fantastic at breaking down the key points in how to handle and prepare your harvest for a successful result. There are some some really fantastic and simple things that he points out that have changed the way I approach processing and cooking. I will never again agonize over de-boning venison front quarters, thanks to the blade roast recipe! That alone made it worth it, but there's plenty more.
I have recommended this book and others to friends and fam.

January 25, 2023I have watched Steve and his ever valuable accomplices catch, shoot, clean, and cook many "critters" on the "Neat Eater" series. It is so much better to look something up from the books than try to remember or try to find a video of that particular segment explaining how to process or cook something. I've been processing wild game and fish all of my life, but it is nice to have a reference in case someone does something different from how I was taught. At 70 years, It is also good to try new recipes of old favorites.

April 13, 2024We have made hundreds of venison recipes, but this one is our favorite. It never fails to impress. We would recommend this cookbook based entirely off of this one recipe. Perfect meal.

February 2, 2023I have tried 7 recipes so far and haven't had a miss yet. Every recipe has an interesting spin or at least an added detail to really help bring out the best flavors of game meat. I bought this right after I got my first whitetail and every recipe is a hit. Oh big tip though, most of the recipes require a meat thermometer.
