CLYDE s. NONNEMACHER, or" Permian-Lenie, .PENNSYLVAM @sanear--s-ueeoevsn.
To rLZ, nflmm t may concern:
Be it known that 1, @Lynn S. NONNE` MAQHER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident `of Philadelphiakin'the county of Philadelphia `and State #of Pennsylvania,` have ,invented certain new and useful l'Improvements in Garment-S upporters, of which the following is a specification. v My invention relates to garment-support ers, and particularly `to those intended and Aadapted for use as m'ens hose-supporters, although other uses may be found for the .in-
possible embodiments. j'
The object of the invention is-to improve the construction of such devices and produce l an article which is economical tc manufac- I ture and at the Ysame time is efficient in use l and easily adjusted. l ,A l
My invention consists in the novel features of the garment supporter hereinafter describedand claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is anelevation of a garment-supporter embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is a top end view of the same.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the body portion of my improved supporter, which is preferably a sheet-metal punching. The body portion is formed with means for f attachment of a strap or elastic at one side (the left in the drawings) of an end thereof. As lshown, this means consists of a curved slot a adjacent one side of the body portion, the edge of the body portion here being also curved, asshown at a', and bentslightly inward from the plane of the remainder. A co erating slot a2 is also rovided in the bo y portion near and ob iquely disposed with relation to slot a.
Onthe opposite side (the right in the drawings) of the same end of the body ortion from that in which the slot a is forme l form an open loop-'shaped member B, projecting from the body portion at b downwardly, one limb b of the loop lying near the body por` tion to form therewith a slot b2. The other limb b3 of loo -shaped member B is doubled back on the rst limb to form therewith an- 'other slot b4. It will thus be seen that loops'naped member B provides two open-ended slots at this side of the device, one slot ope'ning down and the other up.
he inner or closed end of slot b2 is formed with a locking curve or projection, as shown j Specification of Letters Patent. Application nea caoba si, i904. serial y torni means `for j Patented Nov. 27, 190e. No. 230,765.
at'b5, said eurvo'or projection being formed on one of the walls of the'slot and projecting into the latter. The end of limb b3 of the loopshaped member B as shown at b, to facilitate the passage of the elastic into said seat.
At its central formed with a longitudinal opening C, the sides e of which converge at the lower end to be supported, as -`lthe'wedge-slot at e'.A As
portion body7 portion A isis bent outwardly slightly,
attachment of a garment to .65
farfas. some `features of my invention are con- Y cerned, )any other means for this pur be substituted. The opposite en ose may the other end of the body slot c2, by means of which be attached to the drawers or ot er garment of the wearer, and a strap or elastic thus' dispensed with.
The strap or elastic porter in the following on Fig. l: Pass the through slot o, up through slot a2, slip in slot 62 downward, and under and back through slot a. The strap or elastic thus attached at the left side of the body portion is then passed around the leg and the end slipped into and brought up through slot b2, the upper end b5 of which slot grips it, and it is then slipped ,into slot b4 by passing under upturned end b of limb b of the loop-shaped member and pushing down.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new', and desire to'secure by Letters Patent ofthe United States, is-
l. A aiment-supporter comprisinga body portion aving means at the lower end thereof for connection with the garment to be supported, a loop-sha ed member projecting from one side of, su stantially, the u per end of said body portion withlthe toe ot the loop extending toward said lower end -and forming two open-ended osite directions, one of sai portion in a wedgeis attached to the s'upmann'er, looking down slots being formed in said member and the other bei of said longitudinal opening .f3 terminates adjacent` 'Y 7o the su porter may strap or elastic down slots opening in 9pmeans at the otherl side of said upper end for the attachment of an elastic. l
2, ln a l1ose-supporter, a bod portion provided with means at one end t ereoi for attachment to the hose, a loop-shaped member at one side of the body portion adjacent es'fnios the opposite one thereof and formed to procent portions of said strip, and additional vide two open-ended site directions, one of in the loop-shaped member and the other be. tween said member Aand the body portion, both of said slots being formed with curved Walls, and additional means on the body portion ior the attachment of an. elastic.
3. in a hose-supporter, a body portion provided with means at one end for attachment to the hose, a loop-shaped member at one side of the body portion and formed to slots opening in OPPO" provide tivo opeiiended slots, one of said i the body portion,-
slots being formed in the loop-shaped niemj ber and the other between said member and said slots being formed l i l l l the body portion, the latteronentioned slot l having one of its edge walls formed with curved projection extending into the said slot adj acont the closed end of the latter, and additional means on the body portion for the attachment of an elastio 4. in a hose-supporter, a bod i portion formed at one end with a wedge-s ot for engagement with theA bose, a loo yshaped member disposed at one side of tie body portion and formed from a strip integral with the end of the body portion opposite to the wedge-slot, said stri being disposed ailjacent to a side oi the bo y portion and donblediipon itself` forming two oppositely-open* ing slots, one of which is located between the` loop member and the bod portion and the other of which is formed etweeii the adjameaiis on the body portion for the attachment of an elastic thereto. f u
5. in a hose-supporter, a body portion provi/ded `.vt-ith means adapted to engage and iold a hose to be supported and formed with a wedge-slot opening toward said means, a loop-shapedmember adjacent 'said wedgeslot formed to provide two open-ended slots opening in opposite directions, one of said s ots being bei` and the Vother between said member and and additional means on the body portion for the attachment of an elastic.
formed with a central opening terminating formed in the loop-shaped mema liose-siipporter,.a body portion at each end in a wedgeslot,`a. loop-shaped. l
member adjacent one of said wedge-slots formed to provide two o eri-ended slots o ening in opposite directions, one of said s ots being formed in theloop-shaped mem-J `ber and the other betweei'i said member and the body portion, and additional means on the body portion for thev attachment of an elastic. y ln testimony whereof l. have signed my naine to this specii'ication in the presence o two subscribing witnesses.
