Description

M. GODBOUT SECURITY JACKET Jan. 2, 1951 Filed April 3o, 1949 lwvevf' ASA @MLM WLG Patented Jan. 2, 1951 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SECURITY JACKET Marthe Godbout, Quebec, Quebec, Canada Application April 30, 1949, Serial No. 90,621 In Canada April 28, 1949 The present invention concerns a new and useful improvement for a security jacket, which has been devised for use of bed patients or children, with restraining bands to prevent falling out of bed. It is a well known fact that 'children and adult patients in hospitals frequently fall from their beds and receive severe injuries. With the present invention these accidents can be avoided and the patient or the child can be comfortably retained in bed.
In hospitals, pneumonia and severe coughs are often contracted when bed patients are not securely confined.
Following are the designs which illustrate this invention:
Figure 1 is a front view of the two spaced bands arranged in parallel form and tied together by a vertical band;
Figure 2 is a front view elevation of a torsoreceiving garment or jacket, adapted to extend from neck to waist and which can be worn by an invalid or a child;
Figure 3 shows the bands in the parallel form and tied together by a vertical band attached to the back of the garment illustrated in Figure 2.
In the drawings, the same reference numbers designate the same' units.
In these drawings, i represents two bands which are used and placed parallel, and the web H unites them and may be attached to them in a suitable manner. At the extremities of bands l0 are tying loops l2 which may be attached to the bed by means of ribbons, tapes, or other devices. As regards Figure 3, it may be seen that jacket A may be joined to web Il by means of sewing. When this garment is worn by an invalid, bands I0 are spread at on the bed and the loops I2 attached to the bed by buttons, tapes, or other ties. The jacket A may be secured on the patient or child in any suitable manner. It is clear that the invalid or child wearing the garment may be zconned to bed without fear of falling out, as all undue movements of the invalid or child are restrained. Normal movements are not prevented and the garment can be worn with comfort and even satisfaction, while assuring a perfect warranty against all. accidents.
I claim an exclusive right of property and privilege for the following invention:
The combination of a torso-receiving garment adapted to extend from neck to waistIl and a restraining device, said device comprising a pair of spaced parallel bands secured to the back of the garment and extending transversely thereof and beyond said garment, the bands being spaced at substantially equal distances from the neck and the waist of the garment, an auxiliary web joining both bands at their centers, and means at both ends of both straps for attaching the ends of the bands to a support.
MARTHE GODBOUT.
