Abstract
Swing seat adaptors are disclosed herein. According to an aspect, a swing seat adaptor includes an elongated seat element having a top portion and a bottom portion. Further, the swing seat adaptor includes first and second attachment members each having a first end attached to the top portion of the elongated seat. Each of the attachment members have an opposed second end configured for attachment to a chain of a swing seat. The swing seat adaptor includes a seat connection element attached to the bottom portion of the elongated seat element. The seat connection element is configured for attachment to a seat portion of a swing seat.
Description
- This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 61/775,773, filed Mar. 11, 2013 and titled SWING SEAT ADAPTORS, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
- The present disclosure relates to child swings. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to swing seat adaptors.
- Play sets are often equipped with swings for children to play. A typical swing includes a swing seat that is attached to ends of a pair of chains. The chains are attached to a top portion of the play set. The swing seat can move generally in a forward and backward direction such that a child can swing when seated in the swing seat. The child can stabilize herself or himself by grasping the chains.
- For smaller children, this typical swing can be unsafe because it does not have a back portion so the child can have back support. In addition, smaller children may not have the strength to stabilize themselves by grasping the chains. Some more recent swing seats do have safety features such as a back support. However, such swing seats are not available on all play sets or playgrounds. For these reasons, it is desired to provide improved technologies for swing seats.
- This Summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts in a simplified form that are further described below in the Detailed Description. This Summary is not intended to identify key features or essential features of the claimed subject matter, nor is it intended to be used to limit the scope of the claimed subject matter.
- Disclosed herein are swing seat adaptors. According to an aspect, a swing seat adaptor includes an elongated seat element having a top portion and a bottom portion. Further, the swing seat adaptor includes first and second attachment members each having a first end attached to the top portion of the elongated seat. Each of the attachment members have an opposed second end configured for attachment to a chain of a swing seat. The swing seat adaptor includes a seat connection element attached to the bottom portion of the elongated seat element. The seat connection element is configured for attachment to a seat portion of a swing seat.
- The foregoing summary, as well as the following detailed description of various embodiments, is better understood when read in conjunction with the appended drawings. For the purposes of illustration, there is shown in the drawings exemplary embodiments; however, the presently disclosed subject matter is not limited to the specific methods and instrumentalities disclosed. FIG. 2 illustrates a top view of an example swing seat adaptor that is not attached to a swing seat in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure; -

FIG. 4 illustrates a side view of the swing seat adaptor shown inFIG. 3 ; -
FIG. 5 illustrates a rear view of another example swing seat adaptor in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure; and -
FIG. 6 is a view of an interior support component for use with the swing seat adaptor in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. - The presently disclosed subject matter is described with specificity to meet statutory requirements. However, the description itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent. Rather, the inventors have contemplated that the claimed subject matter might also be embodied in other ways, to include different steps or elements similar to the ones described in this document, in conjunction with other present or future technologies.

FIGS. 1A-1D illustrate different views of aswing seat adaptor 100 in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosures. Referring toFIG. 1A , the figure shows a side view of theswing seat adaptor 100, which includes anelongated seat element 102 having atop portion 104 and abottom portion 106. Further, theadaptor 100 includes afirst attachment member 108 and a second attachment member (not shown inFIG. 1A ). Thesecond attachment member 110 is shown inFIG. 1B , which illustrates a rear view of theadaptor 100 being connected to a swing seat and also with achild 111 seated therein. The first andsecond attachment members first end 112 attached to thetop portion 104 of theelongated seat element 102. Further,members second end 114 configured for attachment to achain 116 of aswing seat 118 as shown inFIG. 1B . - The
adaptor 100 may also include aseat connection element 120 attached to thebottom portion 106 of theelongated seat element 102. Theseat connection element 120 may attach to a seat portion of theswing seat 118 as shown inFIG. 1B . - In an accordance with embodiments, the
elongated seat element 102 may be made entirely or partially of fabric. Further, theelongated seat element 102 may be flexible. Theelongated seat element 102 may include a cushion material. - In an accordance with embodiments, the first and
second attachment members carabiner 122. Further, the first andsecond attachment members respective carabiner 122 to the respective attachment member, which may be a strap such as a nylon strap. - In accordance with embodiments, the first and
second attachment members top portion 104 of theelongated seat element 102. - In an accordance with embodiments, the
seat connection element 120 may be made entirely or partially of fabric. Further, theseat connection element 120 may be flexible. Theseat connection element 120 may include a cushion material. - In accordance with embodiments, the
seat connection element 120 may wrap around the seat portion of theswing seat 118. Theseat connection element 120 may include astrap 126 including an end for releasable attachment to a rear portion of the elongated seat element. - In accordance with embodiments, the
adaptor 100 may include third andfourth attachment members 128 each having a first end attached to a middle portion of the elongated seat element. Each of the third andfourth attachment members 128 have a second end attached at a middle portion of the first andsecond attachment members members 128 are optional. - In accordance with embodiments, the
adaptor 100 includes ahead rest 130 attached to thetop portion 108 of theelongated seat element 102. Thehead rest 130 may be made entirely or partially of fabric. Further, thehead rest 130 may be flexible. Thehead rest 130 may include a cushion material. -
FIG. 1C illustrates a side view of theadaptor 100,swing seat 118, andchild 111 shown inFIG. 1B . -
FIG. 1D illustrates another side view of theadaptor 100 andswing seat 118 without the child seated therein. Referring toFIG. 1D , the back portion of the seat is shown in a more reclined position as compared to the view shown inFIG. 1C . The recline position of the back portion may be adjusted by adjustment ofmembers -
FIG. 2 illustrates a top view of an example swing seat adaptor that is not attached to a swing seat in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 3 illustrates a perspective view of the swing seat adaptor shown inFIG. 2 being attached to a swing seat in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 4 illustrates a side view of the swing seat adaptor shown inFIG. 3 in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 5 illustrates a rear view of another example swing seat adaptor in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. Referring toFIG. 5 , theswing seat adaptor 100 is similar to other seat adaptors disclosed herein and like reference numbers refer to like elements. Theadaptor 100 also includes a plastic buckle for affixing theseat connection element 120 to a swing seat. More particularly, amale end 500 of the buckle is attached to thestrap 126 and afemale end 502 of the buckle is attached to theelongated seat element 102 such that theseat connection element 120 may wrap around the swing seat and then themale portion 500 connected to thefemale portion 502 for attaching theadaptor 100 to the swing seat. Further, metal swivel clasps 504 may be attached tomembers members members adaptor 100. -
FIG. 6 is a view of an interior support component for use with a swing seat adaptor in accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure. Referring toFIG. 6 ,members element 102 shown inFIG. 3 . Further, the strap may extend throughapertures component 604. Thecomponent 604 may be made of a rigid material such as plastic. Further, thecomponent 604 may be positioned within the upper portion of the elongated seat element for providing support and firmness to the upper portion. - While the embodiments have been described in connection with the various embodiments of the various figures, it is to be understood that other similar embodiments may be used or modifications and additions may be made to the described embodiment for performing the same function without deviating therefrom. Therefore, the disclosed embodiments should not be limited to any single embodiment, but rather should be construed in breadth and scope in accordance with the appended claims.
Claims (15)
1. A swing seat adaptor comprising:
an elongated seat element having a top portion and a bottom portion;
first and second attachment members each having a first end attached to the top portion of the elongated seat element, and each having an opposed second end configured for attachment to a chain of a swing seat; and
a seat connection element attached to the bottom portion of the elongated seat element, and configured for attachment to a seat portion of a swing seat.
2. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the elongated seat element comprises fabric.
3. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the elongated seat element is flexible.
4. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the elongated seat element comprises a cushion material.
5. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the first and second attachment members each comprise a carabiner.
6. The swing seat adaptor of claim 5 , wherein the first and second attachment members each include a ring component that attaches the respective carabiner to the respective attachment member.
7. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the first and second attachment members each comprise a strap.
8. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the first and second attachment members comprise a single strap that extends through the top portion of the elongated seat element.
9. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the seat connection element comprises fabric.
10. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the seat connection element is flexible.
11. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the seat connection element comprises a cushion material.
12. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , wherein the seat connection element is adapted to wrap around the seat portion of the swing seat.
13. The swing seat adaptor of claim 12 , wherein the seat connection element comprises a strap including an end for releasable attachment to a rear portion of the elongated seat element.
14. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , further comprising third and fourth attachment members each having a first end attached to a middle portion of the elongated seat element, and each having a second end attached at a middle portion of the first and second attachment members, respectively.
15. The swing seat adaptor of claim 1 , further comprising a head rest attached to the top portion of the elongated seat element.
